The cost engineer is a crucial member of our project management team. On a daily basis the cost engineer is responsible for tracking production quantities as well as working with procurement on inventory control and receiving. On a weekly basis the cost engineer is part of the planning to ensure that appropriate staffing is being planned for certain activities and tracking production to determine success of the work being performed. On a monthly/long term basis the cost engineer is responsible for identifying long term trends, financial modeling and predictive cash flows. At all stages, daily weekly and monthly, the cost engineer is an essential part of the project team and their analysis and observations are essential to monitoring and health of a project.
